THE '  economy and woodcock

The woodcock represents substantial financial interests and it is perhaps the  more important in terms of responsibility for the future of Scolopax Rusticola.

According to the CEMAGREF study, the  hunting represents in economic value 1.7 billion euros in 2008, 1,650 employees at ONCFS, around 1,000 employees in departmental hunting federations, 80,000 hunting companies.

The ONCFS, which manages the woodcock on a scientific level, is funded by hunters to the tune of 76 million euros per year, which represents about 75% of the total budget, it is important to point out to understand the influence that fear exercise the national hunting federation on the political level within the ONCFS.

Many areas in which the woodcock is of economic interest and in most cases of vital interest.  Here is an example of activities that depend on the woodcock; special rifles, special woodcock ammunition, hunter's equipment for this activity, dog breeders, tenants of hunting grounds, specialized travel agencies, manufacturers of various and varied objects bearing the woodcock emblem , photographers, painters and sculptors, audiovisual artists, hunting associations, the media, scientists and of course institutions etc ............ this list is not exhaustive.

You will agree, a lot of people  depends and lives on it  of this hunt, the ramifications are numerous, and therefore common interests. Sustaining woodcock hunting also means keeping everyone active.

It is not certain that these people are aware that they are sawing the branch on which  they are seated. Many of them,  have no direct impact on the levy, on the other hand their future depends on it.
